The Executive Director Diary Development Authority, Dr. Jolly Zaribwenda, says that with 540 liters of milk processing capacity by Brookside Limited, and with the partnership with farmers, governments, cattle farmers are set to earn extra money and employment through the distribution channels of the value chain of milk which she says will enable the economy to grow. She says the new Bongo product is providing market for the milk that is coming form farmers.
Speaking during the new product launch, Elias Ochola Director Sales – With the rich heritage of Fresh Dairy said in Uganda since 1967, when it started as a Dairy cooperation, they have come to appreciate how rich Uganda’s culture is, most especially with a variety of foods that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
“Fresh Dairy has embraced Uganda’s culture by launching a new unique milk product – Bongo. That is extensively consumed across different cultures and tribes in Uganda, simply adding quality to Bongo in terms of production by homogenizing and pasteurizing it to make it safe for consumption”, he said.
Ochola adds that Fresh Dairy will continuously invest in Research and Innovations, coupled with state of the art milk processing technology and experienced expertise to develop more innovative products that meet varying consumer needs.
“We are very keen to grow and drive the fermented milk products such as Bongo in Uganda. Fresh Dairy hopes to intensify sales of these fermented milk products in the next year, to further firm our grip on an even bigger market share both locally and internationally” he added.
