Healthcare stakeholders advocate for social marketing

The Uganda Health Marketing Group and its partners have organized a two day conference, under the theme; “fostering sustainable and health markets”. The Permanent Secretary  Ministry of Health Diana Atwine last week, told participants that the Ministry of Health employs social Marketing as a way of increasing demand for  Healthcare products; especially those hard to reach areas; thus providing an opportunity for equitable access to health products. This is in order to influence Social behavior for Social good, proven effective in increasing access, demand and utilizing of Health products.

Atwine added that; Social Media is one of the methods of increasing local demand for health products and services, saying Government would prioritize the use of Social Media to create for Medical services, with the aim of influencing positive change.

The Conference Chairman, Duncan Keith Musumba, told participants, the meeting is dedicated to building a community of action that seeks to capture and spread good practices in Social Marketing.

Uganda Health Marketing Group is an organization founded by Ugandans in the Public and Social Media to create high quality Social health marketing growth in Uganda and Africa as a whole. The meeting brought together stakeholders from the public and private sector to provide an opportunity to all Social Marketing practitioners in Uganda and across Africa.
