Viewer’s Choice Movie Awards recognizes Local Talent

Viewer’s Choice Movie Awards 2017 (VCMA) held the 1st award ceremony at Club Ambiance last Friday, to recognize and celebrate Uganda local movie talent. The Awards showcased certificate and award winners of the various categories in acting, publishing, style and lifetime achievers among others. The awards of Male Achiever went to Yassin Lubowa, Female Achiever award to Tereza Farestora, Drama Actor to Jingo (Banabas), Most Female popular Actress to Komuhangi Aisha, Best Horror to Mugabi, Best Film Actor to Faizal Katumba, Most poplar Actor to Senkumba Bosa and Best film Publisher went to Excel. Others are: Best Child Actress Tendo Tracy and Young Achiever to Mutebi Farouk among others.

VCMA at Club Ambiance

The Chairman, VCMA Simon Kimbugwe Matovu, says the awards were aimed at appreciating and bringing fourth Uganda talent with creativity to act and write, through viewers voting, which will cover the entire African Continent in future. He added that; the movie industry is the biggest youth employer, but says needs to be boosted through marketing and distribution.

“VCMA is here to stay, and will grow bigger in future, together with Uganda Federation of Movie Industry and Audio Visual Marketing and Distribution company, we will see to it that we market and distribute our movies” he said. Viewer’s Choice Movie Awards 2017 (VCMA) is an annual event that aims at honoring the great artistic work perfected by Uganda’s leading film actors, actresses, producers and publishers among others.
