Victoria University held an “Open Day” for secondary students from different schools and the general public, with the aim of interacting and informing them about different opportunities and advantages the university offers. While speaking at the function that was held at the university in Kampala, the university Vice Chancellor, Dr. Sharma Krishna, asked the students to consider joining Victoria University because of the many advantages it offers. Dr. Sharma said that although the university does not have big infrastructure, the quality of education offered is far much better than what is offered at most universities that are traditional and with big buildings.
“The fact that we have a small number of students gives students and lecturers an opportunity to interact on a personal level. The ratio of lecturer to students is very small at this university. This gives lectures a chance to understand each student’s weaknesses and strengths and help them build and guide them accordingly” he said. Dr. Sharma added: “Our lecturers are carefully selected and are the best in this country. They have been to international universities and understand what a student needs to be successful outside school. Our methodology of teaching is the kind that involves students. We are interactive in the classroom; a thing you can’t find at other universities.”
Dr sharma asked the students to join the university if they want to be extraordinary and different from the rest of their peers. Immaculate Ikamweha from St. Maria Gorretti; who attended the function said it was helpful to her and inspirational to hear from different speakers; and that she would consider joining the university because of the opportunities it offered.
