Over 67 companies last week convened in Kampala Serena Hotel; to discuss couponing business and discounting pricing. This is aimed at bringing all companies together to harness the benefits of discounting to their customers; through organized discount weeks and discount coupon booklets. The business breakfast meeting was organized by “The Shopper”, a company that supports businesses by providing leading brands to their customers at discounted prices.

The Executive Brand Manager, Musa Kintu Misango says that; “The Shopper” aims at transforming the consumer behavior; by introducing the discount week, where businesses can give opportunities to their customers. “This is to buy quality goods and services at discounts”, said Kintu. He added that among the benefits of discounting includes; customer motivation, customer loyalty and sales multiplication among others.

“Customers are motivated when goods are discounted and the business will get huge profits, because customers will come in huge numbers, get a coupon from the Shopper website, with a discount on it; which you can also access on your mobile” Kintu added. Kintu informed companies that the discounting week will be slated to begin from 5th to 11th October 2017, where customers will be given a chance to choose the item that costs less.

The Vice Chancellor Muteesa 1 University, Prof. Arthur Serwanga says that; it’s important for business people to lower prices for products and services to attract different customers, adding that though the system of discounting has been in existence, “The Shoppers” have put more emphasis on it.  “It is advisable for customers to vary discounts on the different products because by lowering prices, you end up still getting reasonable profits” he said.
