Mufti lauds turkey for cooperation, Support

His Eminence the Mufti of Uganda Shk. Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje has lauded Turkey for its continued cooperation and support to Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC).He said this last week while addressing over 250 Imams from Kampala Muslim District at the UMSC Headquarters Old Kampala.

The Imams were invited by the UMSC Secretary for Social Services Mr. Muhammad Ali Aluma to collect Iftar Packages donated to them by Diyanet Foundation from Turkey.The Mufti said there are currently over 100 Uganda students pursuing studies in various Turkish schools and universities.

“We are grateful for the scholarship offers, Qurbani, Islamic literature, Mosque construction and borehole donations among others” the Mufti said.

The Mufti who was flanked by the Deputy Ambassador of Turkey in Uganda; His Excellency Volkan Sahinkaya assured him that UMSC is partnering with organizations that are in the good books of the Turkish government.

On his side, the Turkish Deputy Ambassador commended the Mufti in particular and Ugandan Muslims in general, for standing with Turkey in both good and trying moments.

He said the 1300 Iftar Packages to Imams are not a one off event but part of the continued assistance that Turkey offers to Ugandan Muslim brothers and sisters.
